The 2017 WPSA Project Planning Meeting will take place on 6-10 March in Madrid, hosted by CIEMAT.

CIEMAT (Laboratorio Nacional de Fusión) is responsible for the design, and subsequent manufacture, of the cryostat for the JT-60SA device, as part of the commitment of the Spanish government within the Broader Approach agreement. The manufacture of the cryostate base, which was undertaken by IDESA (Asturias), was completed at the beginning of November 2012. The manufacture of the cryostat vessel body cylindrical section started at the end of 2013 for delivery to Naka in January 2018.

The main scope of this meeting is the presentation and discussion of the project activities within the EUROfusion working package WPSA (Preparation and Exploitation of JT-60SA). This work package is in support of a European exploitation of JT-60SA within the broader approach and possibly beyond. The main objective is to prepare for a high level EU participation in JT-60SA scientific exploitation, fully integrated in the EU fusion programme. The format of the meeting will be similar to previous PPMs, i.e., 3 days of plenary meeting and 1.5 days of working sessions. Videoconference will also be available.
